Well Sophia, you asked, “what does one eat when there is no turkey”?
The day started out okay, lounging around, Mike taking care of some business. About 1:00 p.m. I finally get the kids all ready to go and we headed on out to go eat. We had in mind to go to a certain resturant near downtown. So we drove the coast, which is the long way, for the view. It was beautiful as usual. It reminded us how grateful that God allowed us to move here and live in such a paradise on earth.
After taking a wrong exit and getting lost for about 45 min. we finally arrive at the resturant. Closed :O What to do. There is another resturant across the street so we pulled into the parking lot. We had eaten there before and after seeing a few things that totally grossed me out, that’s just the way I am, I cringed and told Mike that I just couldn’t eat there. So, we left, and the hunt started for another resturant.
We passed through 2 small cities with no luck. Even I-HOP was closed. Can you belive that, I couldn’t. It was getting later and we were getting more and more hungry and irritable. We had driven all day and at this point we almost back at our house. We passed an Albertsons grocery store and I was at the point where I wanted to stop and just buy some food to cook. But we decided to try one last place. There is a place called resturant row which houses about 15 different resturants. I prayed to God that there be at least one of those open.
As usual, God answered my prayers. The parking lot was empty but as we drove to the side of the lot we saw a fire pit that was lit and a big sign that said, Come in and have a Thanksgiving feast with us. Eewwweee, boy were we happy and yes, thankful.
We ended up having a beautiful and very filling Thanksgiving meal. Everything we could ask for and it was absolutly delisious. Thank you Jesus.
I said that this was the first time that I didn’t cook for Thanksgiving. Well, let me tell you, it is the last time I don’t cook for Thanksgiving. Never again will I do that.
Here are some pics that I snapped during our day.
This is a very beautiful church, I was told it is a LDS church, loos very beautiful at night with the lights shining on it. Stunning
These are beautiful flowers at the closed resturant. It was worth the drive just to see these.
This is the beautiful beach
I’m so glad you finally found a restaurant that was open and you could enjoy your Thanksgiving meal. Your photos are lovely! And I know you must already be planning next year’s Tday meal! LOL
Oh my heck! What an adventure you had! But, it looks like it was definitely a beautiful day! I honestly thought of you several times yesterday and wondered about what you ate! I’m so glad that you had a good dinner after all of your trouble! And yes, that it the San Diego LDS temple. It’s one of the most amazing structures I’ve ever seen! You can see others at: http://www.lds.org/temples/home/0,11273,1896-1,00.html . I’m so glad that your day turned out to be one that will bring huge memories in years to come! Thanks for sharing!
Sophia
yep, San Diego LDS Temple! Gorgeous isn’t it? Glad you found dinner!!
So glad you found somewhere to eat. I have never been brave enough to try the no cooking thing for any major holiday.
Hi, I love your blogsite. I also created one. How do you get the image at the top with your title? Leave a comment for me http://www.wilnaf.blogspot.com Will appreciate it a lot.
Beautiful beach view! We had a very similar experience to yours. We were driving through 5 towns to find an open espresso stand for the drive home. You fared much better than us, I must say. Thanks for sharing the memorable experience!
Sounds like quite a day. I was going to tell you the church is the San Diego LDS Temple, which I have never seen {it was being built the last time I was in San Diego} But Sophia beat me too it. Sounds like all’s well that ends well.
